Faith Initiatives

  • Altar Servers - assist in setting up for school liturgies, serving the Priest during school Masses, and occasionally travel to serve for Archbishop Rodi for various Masses during the school year.
  • Men of St. Joseph - on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at 7:15 AM in room 7221 any young man is invited to come and learn to pray Morning Prayer (Lauds of the Liturgy of the Hours), pray for one another, our school, our families, and our community; and enjoy some fellowship... and of course donuts.
  • Women of Virtue -  on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at 7:15 AM in the Campus Ministry Room (Upstairs Toolen building on the Theology Hall) any young woman is invited to join for donuts, faith devotional, and discussion.
  • First Friday Mass - on the first Friday of every month, all students are invited to join us at St. Mary's Church for daily Mass at 7:15 AM!
  • Praise, Worship, and Adoration - on the third Friday of the month all students are invited to join us in the McT Chapel any time between 7:15 and 7:50 AM for Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament and praise and worship led by Mr. Krause and Ms. Lawson.
  • Legion of Mary - The Junior Legion of Mary at McGill-Toolen strives to take up the Lord's call to personal holiness. Our mission promotes daily prayer, weekly meetings, and spiritual works of mercy around our campus in union with Mary, our mother. They meet every Monday after school in Toolen 7219 (Mr. Williams' classroom). Daily prayer begins at 7:30 in the McGill chapel.
  • Morning Prayer - All students are welcome to join in the McT Chapel every morning at 7:30 AM for student-led Morning Prayer (Lauds of the Liturgy of the Hours) - The Liturgy of the Hours is the public prayer of the Universal Church. Religious and Clergy pray the Liturgy of the Hours at five distinct times throughout the day (Morning, Midmorning, Midday, Evening, and Night). The Church also encourages and welcomes the lay faithful to join in praying the Liturgy of the Hours as a form of sanctifying the day by turning our sights toward Heaven and offering God the praise He is due.
  • ROOTED - a ministry run by Mr. Krause (McT Campus Ministry) and Fr. Victor Ingalls (Vocations Director, Archdiocese of Mobile) - once a month any Junior or Senior young man is invited to join us for ROOTED. Nights are held at the Frassati Youth Center on St. Ignatius' campus. A typical ROOTED Night begins with free dinner at 7 PM, followed by time for fellowship (yard games, pool, ping pong, cards, watching any live sporting event, basketball, kanjam, etc. This is followed by a brief presentation/talk from a Catholic man who shares his testimony of being "rooted" in Christ, specifically focusing on one part of his spiritual devotion (Daily Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, Lectio Divina, etc.). After praying together the young men are challenged to take on a new spiritual practice for the month, keeping one another accountable. The goal of this ministry is to form a community of young men who learn to be Christian leaders and disciples, and who seek holiness daily as they prepare to move into the next phases of life: college, married life, priesthood, workforce, etc.
  • Daily Mass - all are welcome to attend daily Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church (on the corner of Lafayette and Old Shell) at 6 AM or 7:15 AM Monday - Friday.
  • McT Respect Life Club -  Each year the group joins in the prayer and fasting campaign 40 Days for Life and attends the National March for Life in Washington DC. We're excited to be planning more events that serve the poor and vulnerable in our community for the coming year. Stay tuned!
