AP Chemistry
Course Description
The course develops skills in applying the models of chemistry along with the laboratory skills typically required in college chemistry. This course requires significant initiative, effort and persistence on the part of the student along with prior knowledge of nomenclature, writing and predicting products for chemical reactions, atomic structure and use of stoichiometry. This course examines kinetics, equilibrium and acid/base equilibria, electrochemistry, thermochemistry, and thermodynamics. The goal of the class is to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to succeed on the Advanced Placement Exam. Prerequisites: Juniors who have successfully completed Honors Physics and Honors Chemistry or seniors who have taken honors science courses.
