Welcome to AP Biology! Each unit will have several optional practice packets that will be uploaded as assignments.Tests will focus on utilizing skills and concepts. Tests will be multiple choice and grid-in format to mimic the first half of the AP Biology exam. Free-response questions will be used in class, but not as part of tests.Labs will focus on applying skills and concepts. For informal labs: Informal labs will often be assessed with a pre-lab quiz and a post-lab quiz. The pre-lab quiz will focus on procedure and safety. The post-lab quiz will focus on interpreting results. Self-produced physical documents from the lab may be used on both quizzes. You will be provided a copy of the lab handouts several days ahead of time to allow time to review. You should write a lab procedure with key questions and concepts identified (this may be typed on the ipad, but must be printed to use on the quiz). During the lab, add data to your lab and make notes as needed. You will not turn in a report or answer a list of questions for informal labs. The post-lab quiz will ask you about the material that you normally would have turned in. Formal labs will be discussed in the future. If you have any questions at any point, please come and see me!Looking forward to a great year,Mrs. Goff
