- Description
-
This second year honors course is designed for students who excelled in their first year of Spanish. The course begins with a concise review of the work completed in the first year. Continuing to build on oral and written communication, Spanish II Honors places a greater emphasis on formal structures of grammar and broadens students’ language vocabulary. Honors students will devote their time to more extensive reading and writing assignments as they become more competent in the language. Multimedia such as audio recordings of native speakers and videos and films are an important part of the course. Students will continue to learn about variations in the Spanish language as well as deepen their understanding of the richness of Hispanic cultures. Knowledge of contemporary Spanish cultures is enhanced through the use of media, games, readings, and small/large group discussions. In addition to traditional tests for evaluation, students will complete performance assessments in which they must use language skills to create authentic products (e.g., menus, journal entries, newspaper articles, presentations). Honors Spanish II allows students to communicate more effectively with others in Spanish.
