- Description
-
This second year course begins with a thorough review of the work completed in the first year. Continuing to build on oral and written communication, Spanish II places a greater emphasis on formal structures of grammar and broadens students’ vocabulary. Spanish II students will devote their time to more extensive reading and writing assignments as they become more competent in the language. Multimedia such as audio recordings of native speakers and videos and films are an integral part of the course. Students will continue to learn about variations in the Spanish language as well deepen their understanding of the richness of Hispanic cultures. Knowledge of contemporary Spanish cultures is enhanced through the use of media, games, readings, and small/large group discussions. In addition to traditional tests for evaluation, students will complete performance assessments in which they must use language skills to create authentic products (e.g., menus, journal entries, newspaper articles, TV presentations). Spanish II allows students to communicate more effectively with others in Spanish.

Assignment
Throughout the class on Thursday, you will have an assignment to be working on silently. I will be calling students aside one at a time. I will ask you a series of approximately four questions, and all you need to do is respond appropriately, as if you were having a typical conversation. Think of it as a casual conversation.
Begin by saying hello and telling me your name. Then, we’ll have our conversation, and then, say thank you and goodbye.
