HI-Q / Scholars' Bowl Home

Hi Q is also an academic competition, but the format and topic of the questions is quite different. Questions are drawn from 13 subjects including but not limited to sports, literature, geography, physics, chemistry, and Shakespeare. Guidelines for study and specific reference material are provided months before the competition, so participants have ample time to prepare. There are three rounds of contests during the regular Hi-Q season that begins in January. Top scoring teams participate in semi-finals and a championship match. In the championship match, first, second, and third place teams win cash awards for their schools of $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000, respectively.

Scholars' Bowl is a competition in which participants attempt to quickly and accurately answer trivia questions from all academic areas of study. It is similar to Jeopardy but with a team concept. The questions come for the NAQT tournament bank. McGill-Toolen Catholic and other Mobile high students participate in Scholars' Bowl competitions held at Bishop State Community College and The University of Mobile. Scholars' Bowl rewards both individual excellence and teamwork.
