McGill-Toolen Catholic High School is hiring a High School Choir Accompanist!
 
Requirements: 
  • Provide piano accompaniment for scheduled choir rehearsals throughout the academic year (twice a week, times coordinated between accompanist and choral director)
  • Accompany schoolwide liturgies (usually once a month, schedule varies based on holy days of obligation, solemnities, etc)
  • Perform on organ for liturgical celebrations as required
  • Demonstrate advanced sight-reading ability to prepare a wide range of sacred and choral repertoire
  • Assist in sectional rehearsals and musical coaching as needed
  • Collaborate with the Director in the preparation and execution of concerts and special events
  • Support the Catholic identity and mission of the school through professional conduct and active collaboration
  • Accompaniment for rehearsal at Choral Camp/Retreat (either during the summer or on a weekend during Fall or Spring Semester)
  • Overnight travel for festivals/competitions/assessments on an as-needed basis (once a year or every other year)

Plus, the ideal candidate will have:
  • Proficiency in both piano and organ performance
  • Exceptional sight-reading skills
  • Working knowledge of Catholic liturgical music, including Mass settings, hymnody, psalmody, and music for the liturgical seasons
  • Prior experience accompanying choirs, preferably in a school or parish setting
  • Ability to work effectively with high school students
  • Respect for and commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience accompanying Catholic liturgies within a parish or diocesan setting
