MLA Research Paper

You can do a research paper on the same technology topic as last week's keynote project or some other technology topic. You can also choose to do the pandemic or bullying. Your paper should be factual but be careful not to plagiarize or even paraphrase too much. The paper must be at least two pages and no longer 2 and half pages. You need a work cited page with at least one source cited on a separate/additional page. You must follow the MLA guidelines specific to heading, spacing, margins, font size, title and worked cited page. You can do your paper in pages or google docs and submit to turnitin.com by 6pm Sunday, May 17.  Please review attached document regarding MLA and work cited guidelines.

 

Things to be mindful of:

  1. You must following MLA guidelines precisely or you will be penalized accordingly.

  2. Please proofread your paper carefully or have someone else do it for you.

  3. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN WORK! Plagiarism is a violation of school policy, considered cheating and can result in a zero. Read the facts/info and interpret in your own words and feel free to add your own opinion or experience when relative.

  4. Please capitalize proper nouns and activate spell check

Create a 5-8 keynote presentation on a technology innovation or company.  Examples are iPhone, Apple, Google, google maps, drones, games, apps, social media, internet, iPad etc.  You must communicate the key function and purpose as well as tangible benefits and negative effects.  Try to get into the science, coding of how it is created and works. Must include key background information such as; when it was invented or founded and by who, it's evolution over the years, demand, success or growth rate of it.  You can also look at futuristic innovations on the horizon but not yet in use like self driving cars, innovations in public and private transportation, artificial intelligence etc.  Pay attention to your design details: heading, pictures, background, amble text and size, transitions, loop presentation, etc. Include a live link citing your information source.  See sample below for ideas.   • Who were their founders and who are their current leaders?

April 27-1 assignment- Option 1/Swift Playgrounds coding app or Option 2/Banzai financial literacy (you only have to do one option)
 
Swift Playgrounds/Functions- 1. complete the eight lessons including the introduction under functions. 2. Under functions you will learn to name a set commands in sequence then run that code repeatedly when needed. 3. Pace yourself and spend 20-30 mins a day to complete all lessons. 4. Screenshot the completed function lessons (make sure I can see the check marks) as shown in sample then email to be by 9am Monday, May 4th. 5. If you've already done the lessons under Functions, you do not have to do it again just email me the screenshot.
 
Banzai Play the Game- 1. Apply the information and resources provided to navigate the life situations the game presents you by managing your budget properly. The website will save your score was completed and I will remotely check next Sunday evening.  If you did in advance, you don't have to do again.

Assignment April 20-24- Each day create a one page keynote slide about your pandemic experience.
 
1. Monday- Write about your overall experience during the pandemic. Your daily routine, your thoughts/feelings about it, how has it changed/effected your life/thinking and family.
2. Tuesday- What have you missed the most and why. How do you plan to cherish what you miss most better when the pandemic is over. One thing you've learned or done during this time because of the pandemic.
3. Wednesday- Write about something inspiring you've witnessed, read about or seen on TV. What's inspiring about it and why. What's something genuinely good you've done or plan to do because of pandemic. How has the pandemic brought the best and worse out in people.
4. Thursday- Summarize how you think we've handled the pandemic as a nation, state and local community.  What would you like to see done better. What do think should happen next and how should we go about it as nation and state.
5. Friday- What worries you the most, what are you most looking forward to, how will you and life be different/better and what can we do as a nation and you to make it better.
 
Notes- You only have to do a page a day this week but feel free to do more or continue on your own after the week is over.  You can use photos to enhance your page but you really shouldn't need more than one per page. Remember you are living history right now.  Twenty years from now, could you use this journal and effectively be the guest speaker for high school class for a day?  Email as an attachment or share via google drive by Monday, April 27. Assignments April 6-9
 
Monday- Spend 15-20 minutes researching facts for an iMovie or poster project on the Coronavirus crisis.  Facts can include info on the virus itself, symptoms, transmission, social distancing etc.
 
Tuesday-Wednesday- Create 45 second to one minute iMovie video on the Coronavirsus crisis or one page poster. If you choose iMovie, it must be an original movie with music, video, text and pictures. Please include 10-40% of facts/info on the virus.  But the majority of you video should focus on social distancing.Tell me or show me how you and your family are surviving social distancing...doing homework, parents working at home, cooking, dancing, exercising etc.  You can can include fun video or pictures of yourself and family or upload video/pics of people from internet.  Please see the Social Distancing video on the web link below for ideas.  The other option is to create a poster using Photoshop Mix or Pages including a title, 3-5 pictures and helpful facts on virus, symptoms, social distancing, and prevention.  See samples of posters for ideas. Do the movie or poster; don't do both.  Click on download icon and email me your assignment by Friday morning.

  1. Complete last week's Swift Playgrouds assignment and email a screenshot image to me at [email protected] by 3pm Tuesday, March 31 or submit to www.turnitin.com.  If using turnitin, please make sure the upload/submission goes through.  In order to screenshot completed lessons open the app, on the introduction page or any page tap down arrow key to access the check mark on all your completed lessons under commands, hold down home and power button at same time, photo will save in your photos app.  Email it to me with your class period included or upload to turnitin.  See same below

March 23-27- Swift Playgrounds Coding- Commands
On the Swift Playgrounds Coding app on your iPad complete the seven coding puzzles/screens under Commands. The puzzle/screen titles under Commands are issuing commands, adding a new command, toggling switch, portal practice, find and fixing bugs, bug squash and the shortest route.  You will see the title at the top left center of each screen.  After you complete these puzzle/screens stop.  You are not required to do Functions and those puzzles.  Pace yourself and do a puzzle or two a day so you will finish on Friday.

Create an original iMovie 1 to 2 minutes on iPad or desktop with a partner or alone if you prefer. You can not use a pre-existing template; Must be an orignal. You must include at least 15-30 seconds of video; but video should not be more than half of your iMovie. Must include some text within video; title, subtitles and/or credit. The video can include you and/or your partner narrating the iMovie or participating in a Mardi activity or actual footage from the parade; such as; people at Mardi Gras, balls, floats, bands, etc. You can a have a voice over during your video. Also, you can include video from the internet, in addition or as an alternative. Of course, you can include pictures you take yourself during Mardi Gras or from internet to complete your project. Your iMovie should also have at least one transition and music; sound effects are optional. See samples below.
