Description

This course provides a survey of British Literature and works by various British authors. Students will study a variety of types of works beginning with Anglo-Saxon literature and ending with the Postmodern Period and present day works. The course will not only focus on the works themselves, but also the themes connecting these works together. Writing will be emphasized with a focus on literary analysis and essay composition. Students will write an argumentative research paper during the second semester. Grammar will be reviewed in the context of writing and reading assignments through exercises and the review of common grammatical mistakes. A portion of this class will be devoted to preparing for the ACT. Vocabulary enrichment will be targeted by the use of Vocabulary Workshop Level F: Enriched Edition. By the end of the year, the prescribed vocabulary program will be completed.
