UPDATE ON OUR 2023 SEASON:

Both the boys and girls teams were very competitive all season. Weight room workouts were vital to our training and success this year which is what gave us a good foundation athletically, but spiritually speaking we did devotions each week which grew our faith and built our team unity. Our workouts this summer and all season gave the endurance to carry both our faith and strength on the course. Our boys and girls teams never stopped listening to the captains of each team. Senior, William Blanchette, was the captain of the boys team and junior William Porr as the co-captain. Senior, Camille Wittendorfer, was the captain of the girls team and junior Lexi Bolton as the co-captain. Our JV boys team, on average, finished 3rd all season and our JV girls finished in 1st/2nd place consistently. For our varsity boys team, no matter how young this team was, they quickly realized that they were capable more than they imagined. When talented and older runners graduate from a program, it’s amazing to me how runners under them stop holding back and really go all out and this is truly the case for the boys team. They competed each weekend coming in 3rd each week, but not being counted out as a strong competitor. At the Mobile County Championships meet, our boys finished in 3rd place with William Porr and Joshua Sasser making All County. At sectionals meet, our boys team finished in 2nd place stamping them a spot in the state meet. Our boys team finished 10th overall with junior William Porr finishing as All State Runner Up. Moving on to our varsity girls team, they proved each week they were dominant all season, but remained humble and raced to not just have local teams on their mind, but teams up north as their motivation to continue to race hard. At Mobile County Championships, the varsity girls team finished in 2nd overall with Claire Mostellar, Audrey Woodard, and Lexi Bolton making All County by placing in the top 15. At the sectionals meet, we had a champion finish despite the adversity of us being sick before us. This team rallied together and stepped up to be nothing short of the best. We finished in 6th place overall in the state meet. Even though we fell short of our goal as a girls team, this did not stop them from rallying behind one another and resorting back to their foundation of being unified with Christ as our foundation. They still showed grace upon one another and compassion. This senior class is very special to me and has left a mark by being inspiring and being leaders regardless of the unexpected. To add to their success, Mobile County Cross Country head coaches selected a Mobile County All County Team, and an All Region Team. The runners who were selected as All County Team are: Lexi Bolton, Claire Mostellar, Audrey Woodard, William Porr, and Joshua Sasser. The Region Super 7 Team recipients are: William Porr and Claire Mostellar.
