Basketball has been a staple in Sidney Pearson's life. An outstanding 4-year career culminated in his being named the Most Outstanding Senior Player at McGill, being selected as a member of the All-County and All-State teams and tapped for the 1970 South All-Star Squad in the Alabama High School Athletic Association All-Star Game that year, and being awarded basketball scholarships to both the University of South Alabama and Faulkner State Junior College. His career at McGill also included serving as homeroom president for 3 years and as student council treasurer for one year. After leaving McGill, he attended the University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College , earning a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.

His basketball skills have been put to use ever since his time at McGill. He was freshman basketball coach in 1971-72, JV Coach at U.M.S. in 1975, Alabama Sports Festival Girls' Basketball Coach in 1998-99, City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Girls' Basketball Coach in 2000, and a C.Y.O. basketball coach for St. Ignatius from 1992-2002. He is a charter member of the Glory Days basketball booster club at McGillToolen. He has served his alma mater in other ways as well, helping with the strategic planning committee, serving on the search committee for a men's basketball coach, and a charter member of the McGillToolen girls' basketball Christmas tournament committee.

He served on the Mobile Civic Center Advisory Board, is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 666, a Minister of Communion at St. Ignatius Parish, a member of the strategic planning committee for St. Ignatius School , and he served on the parish's tithing committee.

He is currently the general manager of Rental Service Corporation. He and his wife, the former Susan Edwards, have two girls–Amy Catherine , MT '00, and Elizabeth Clare, MT '02.
