Amy Cornelius Huff
McGill-Toolen Class of ’89

Amy Cornelius Huff graduated from McGill-Toolen in 1989.  While in high school, she was an honor roll student and SGA member including SGA president during her senior year. Amy participated in Alabama Girls’ State as a delegate and as mayor, receiving the Good Citizen Award.  Her other honors include Outstanding Service to Student Activities Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, SGA Leadership Award and Ideal Female Graduate. Amy lettered in cross country and track and was All-County in both sports.  In her senior year she was All-State in cross country and received the Most Valuable Senior Award in both sports.

Amy received a full-tuition leadership scholarship to Spring Hill College where she served as Dormitory Council president and a member of the recruitment team.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications in 1993.  She was employed as a 401k specialist with The Principal Financial Group.  She is currently self-employed with her husband in C & H Construction.

Her volunteer activities at McGill-Toolen include Alumni Annual Fund Chairman, Annual Fund Chairman, and Development Committee Chairman.  Amy has served on the school board since 2006 and as its secretary for two years.  In 2004, she received the Special Recognition Award at the volunteer appreciation luncheon. 
Amy is a member of Christ the King Parish where she serves on the Children’s Liturgy Team.  She also serves as vice-president of Christ the King School Board.
Amy has continued her running career as a member of the Port City Pacers, Team Spiridon, and Bay Area Running Club.  In 4 recent seasons, she has won over 40 races including the top local female in both the 2005 Azalea Trail Run and the 2008 Senior Bowl Charity Run and was the 2009 Southern Regional 8K champion.  In addition, she holds 3 Alabama state records in her age group.

She is married to William H. “Pepper” Huff, McGill-Toolen ’87, and they have 3 children: Caroline, Jacob, and Joseph.  Her parents are Suzanne Staples Cornelius, Bishop Toolen ’62, and Marvin Cornelius, McGill Institute ’61, also a Hall of Fame member.
