Convent of Mercy Class of '41
A lifetime spent in service to Mobile's Catholic community earned Anna Bailey Crow a Pro Eccelesia et Pontifice Medal from Pope John Paul II. From recording history as it happened for twenty years as editor of The Catholic Week , to the writing of McGill-Toolen 's 100 year history, to her most recent endeavor, compiling the history of the Visitation Convent, Anna Crow's pen has furthered the Catholic mission in Mobile.
After graduating from the Convent of Mercy in 1941 and attending the University of Alabama and the University of South Alabama, she taught at both St. Catherine' s and the Convent of Mercy before assuming the role of editor for The Catholic Week .
It wasn't just her pen that Anna put to work for her faith. Her vitality has added sparkle to many organizations B the Ladies of Charity, the Little Sisters of the Poor Auxiliary, St. Pius X Riese Club, St. Dominic's Jubilee Club, and the Tricentennial Faith Celebration Committee. Her leadership skills have steered many other organizations and projects B Providence Hospital Auxiliary, the Mobile Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, the St. Catherine Siena Club, the celebration of Mobile's 20 th anniversary as an archdiocese, the building of the ecumenical chapel on the grounds of Providence Hospital, St. Ignatius Keep In Touch Club, and the fundraising committee for St. Ignatius School.
She and her husband, J. Kenny Crow Sr., (now deceased) have six children---Anne C. Baggett, Margaret C. Bender, Nonie C. Reed, Ginger C. Drago, J. Kenny Crow Jr., and Joseph M. Crow-- eighteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren .
