Lynn Donaghey Clapper
Bishop Toolen Class of 1972

Lynn Donaghey Clapper graduated from Bishop Toolen in 1972. While at BTH, she was freshman class president, homeroom representative for 3 years, a member of the Spanish Club and was inducted into the National Honor Society. She was also a reporter and news page editor of the Bitoolian , the school newspaper, and later co-editor-in-chief of the Forum, the result of the combination of the Bitoolian and The McGillian during the 1971-72 academic year. After graduation, she attended Auburn University , where she majored in Psychology and minored in Spanish, graduating with highest honor. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Spanish honorary.

After college Lynn returned to Mobile and went to work at the First National Bank Trust Department. She was then employed by T. Leavell and Associates from 1979 until 1984. She has also worked as a “professional volunteer” in numerous civic and Church endeavors. She was president of the Art Patrons League and the Historic Mobile Homes Tour. While an active member of the Junior League from 1987-96, Lynn served on its board of directors for 4 years. She was a member of Leadership Mobile Class of 1995-96 and later served on its board. She was also active on the Mobile Tricentennial committee and the Little Sisters of the Poor Board of Directors. She currently serves on the board of Providence Hospital .

At McGill-Toolen Catholic, Lynn has held numerous jobs over the years. She chaired Jacket Jubilation in 1997 which raised over $25,000 for the Annual Fund. As a result, she was named Volunteer of the Year in 1998. She continued her involvement by participating in the long-range plan that culminated in the decision to commence a capital campaign to build a new science center and other capital improvements. She and her husband, Bob, serve as chairmen of Scientia Pro Amore Dei —Knowledge for the Love of God, the capital campaign that has to-date raised more than $12 million. Lynn is also Vice-president of the McGill-Toolen Foundation Board. She and her husband Bob received the inaugural Clapper Passion for Excellence Award in 2007.

Lynn and Bob are members of St. Ignatius Parish where Lynn is a Eucharistic minister. They have three children, all graduates of McGill-Toolen: Bradley C. King, '99; Benjamin, '03; and Nicholas, '06; and four grandchildren: James, Madeleine and Thomas King and Kate Clapper. Lynn 's parents are Terry and Bradley Donaghey. Her dad graduated from McGill Institute in 1949 and was inducted into the McGill-Toolen Hall of Fame in 2003. All of her brothers and sisters are graduates of McGill-Toolen: Dr. James B. Donaghey, '74; Janice D. Reed, '75; MaryLou D. Hyland, '78; and Patricia D. Vallee', '80.
