McGill-Toolen Class of '92

Dina Hines Blankenship has always been a leader - she started the girls' golf team at McGill-Toolen and began the dominance of women's golf at McGill-Toolen on the state level. She was the school's No. 2 player for four years.

In high school, she was an Azalea Trail Maid, a home room representative, class secretary and vice president. She also helped start the Ambassador Club and served as one of its first presidents. Her high school honors included: Homecoming Court, member of the State Championship Golf Team (1990-1992), second place State golf team (1989) and All-State and All-County golf teams.

At Spring Hill College, she was only the second female to sign a golf scholarship. Off the course, she was leader in student activities just as she was in high school. She was SGA vice president, class president, class representative and Queen of the Spring Hill Mardi Gras. Her community activities included volunteering at the Penelope House and Mary Abbie Berg Senior Center and tutoring children at Palmer Pillans and Azalea Middle Schools. She also volunteered to prepare tax returns for low-income tax payers.

Golf was her passion in college. She was a member of the inaugural NAIA Women's Golf Team placing third in 1994, the national fifth place golf team in 1995, the national second place golf team in 1996 and the Long Drive National Champion in 1995. While earning all these honors, she made the Dean's list and still had time to be active in her sorority and teach golf lessons.

With a bachelor of science degree in 1996 and an MBA with a specialization in accounting in 1997, she went to work for Wilkins Miller, P.C., where she was employed for nine years. During this time, she renewed her relationship with McGill-Toolen. She served a three-year term on the CHSAAM Board and has been an annual caller for the school's fall phonathon. She is also loyal to her college alma mater raising money for Spring Hill College by serving on the tournament committee for the Zoghby-Devaney Golf Tournament.

She is married to George Blankenship. They have three children: Ashlyn, 6; George III, 5; and Will, 1; and are members of St. Mary=s Parish. Blankenship is a member of the Junior League of Mobile where she has volunteered at the Dearborn YMCA and the Exploreum and as a mentor at the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Strickland Youth Center. She helped restructure the family business--USC Glass--and is currently its Chief Financial Officer.
